No appointment is needed for this repair. Feel free to come to our shop location during our open business hours 10A-2P and 3P-6P Monday through Friday. Repair time is up to 10 min, and comes with 1Yr Parts & Labor Parts & Labor Warranty. If you choose (and the part availability allows for) to get this item shipped, you will likely forfeit any such warranties as described. This repair service is not available for price-matching at this time.

If your iPhone is a different color than what you requested, you will have an additional $5 fee for a new SIM card tray. Unfortunately we cannot exchange the trays because the serial number and IMEI number affixed to the tray. You will get your original SIM card back with your iPhone 3GS.

When a Apple Computer Company iPhone 3GS needs a Complete Replacement Back

Cracked, Broken & Busted Back Plastic

Back casing is damaged due to cracks, missing pieces and/or deep scratches. Common cracks occur vertically from the charging point, above the power button, and on corners.

  • Cracks above Charging Port - Cracks above the charging port are typically from pressure or impact damage; this area cracks more easily due to the lack of strength reinforcement. Upon replacement, you may request that we add additional reinforcement to the back to help prevent this kind of crack from occuring, however, it won't garauntee that you wouldn't be able to crack it.
  • Missing Pieces or Cracks above Power Buttons - Cracks that occur between the iPhone's power button and chrome bezel usually occur from direct impact to that corner of the casing or to the actual button itself. The support that holds the button attaches to the inside of the chrome bezel, so if there is separation of the backing and the bezel, this crack occurs usually pretty fast. Unfortunately, we cannot just replace that bit of plastic, but have to do an entire back replacement. This kind of break can (but not always) damage the flex cable that the power button uses.

Preventative measures include a hard case, such as an otter box or other hard plastic case with padding inside.

Can I just get the plastic replaced?

Yes. You can get the iPhone 3GS Replacement Back, where all your existing components will be transfered to the new back.

Scratched Back

Scratches will occur on the iPhone. Even most cases will scratch the iPhone, as dust/particals get between the soft plastic and the case, causing scratches.

The best preventative measure to take to prevent scratches is by purchasing the Invisible Shield Full Body Maximum Coverage which wraps around your iPhone in a almost rubber-like shield, as well as a shield to protect against scratches on the screen. Otter Boxes prevent major scratches, but are known to scratch iPhone backs as well. Cleaning your iPhone and case once a month or so is a good idea with a cleaning cloth. For screens, spray a paper towel with windex, NOT THE DEVICE, and then wipe it down, as to prevent fluid damage to the iPhone.

Buttons Missing

If your button(s) or switch(es) are missing, more than likely it is due to case damage, usually from a side impact around the button. Examine the casing around the button and see if there is separation between the chrome bezel and the plastic back of the 3GS, if so, you will likely need that repaired or replaced with a new iPhone 3GS Back.

Preventative Measures for this type of break is using a case that wraps around the iPhone, or even covers the buttons with rubber, such as an Otter Box™

Buttons Non-Responsive

If your button(s) or switch(es) are disfuntional, non-reponsive and/or not functioning correctly, you likely have damage to the ribbon cable that holds all the button components and switches, as well as the headphone jack. Damage is usally due to either impact, Case Damage, or water damage. To evaluate water damage, peer into the headphone jack and see if the water marker is still either white or silver (If red, water damage has occurred).

Preventative Measure include water resistant cases such as the otter box or a body-glove all rubber case for water damage (not fully protective), as well as any case to prevent impact damage that might cause the case to become separated from the back plastic.

Are the 3G & 3GS backs the same?

Yes and No. They are the same dimensions, but physically the only difference is the print on the back cover. If the iPhone text is gray, it's a 3G. If the iPhone is silver and shiny like the Apple Logo, then it is a 3GS. Also, you will find a model number than can be related to either iPhone in the text. Other subtle differences include the Gigabytes indicated (Gb), as the 3G is only in 8 & 16Gb, and the 3GS is in 16 & 32Gb. For complete backs, the battery and Headphone Flex are different.

Is this part an Original iPhone part?

Yes. There is no warranty, except for the Headphone Flex Jack (1 Year Warranty) and Battery (1 Month Warranty) against manufacturing defects or installation errors, including the part and labor to replace it. Please ensure that you pick up a warranty card at the time of repair. The warranty explicitly does not include any damage to the back case or cover that is cracked or broken in any way, or if there is any water damage to the iPhone, or if the iPhone was repaired by any other company. Warranty validation may require further inquiry than initial inspection.

Will I loose any Data, Pictures or Info with this repair?

You will not loose any information by replacing your iPhone 3GS Complete Replacement Back. We do not need to access your files, so we do not need any passcodes or anything else to access your info on your device. We will however power on the device to check components with your logic board. These parts are tested ahead of time, so any further issues after transfering the logic board, camera, SIM Tray Adapter**, complete screen, and complete dock.
